Faithful to the dhyāna
The painting follows the dhyāna in the Śāradā Tilaka Tantra, Kālikā Purāṇa, Dēvī Mahābhāgavata Purāṇa and Dākṣāyaṇī Tantra — the red lotus, jewel bowl and mudrās.
Part of a series
One of the special forms of Bhuvaneśvarī, painted by Swaroop in one consistent style.
Matte cotton canvas
Printed on 300–350 GSM cotton canvas with a matte finish, so there is no glare under lamps or in a pūjā room.
Never cropped
The artwork keeps its original proportions, with a blank border on every side for stretching or framing.

The meaning within
A small presence.
A profound meaning.
Māyā Bhuvanēśvarī is the form of Bhuvanēśvarī known as Satī — daughter of Dakṣa Prajāpati, one of the sixteen forms of Pārvatī and the consort of Śiva.
Her skin is dark in color and she has a shining moon on her crest. In her hands, she shows the vara and abhaya mudrās while holding a red lotus and a bowl full of jewels. She is adorned with pearls and the weight of her breasts makes her hunch. She has three eyes that show joy. I worship Satī, the consort of Śiva who is seated on a red lotus.

04Satī, daughter of Dakṣa+
This form of Bhuvanēśvarī is known as Māyā Bhuvanēśvarī. She is the daughter of Dakṣa Prajāpati and is known as "Satī" among the 16 forms of Pārvatī. When Ādyā Kālikā was happy with Dakṣa's penance, she promised to be born as his daughter. When she was born, the baby was fair and showed her eight-armed Bhavānī form and reverted to a dark-skinned baby, leading her name to be "Kālī". After severe penance, she became the second wife of Śiva after Śārikā and later when her avatāra was complete, she reincarnated as Pārvatī and her body reincarnated as Gaṅgā.
