Faithful to the dhyāna

Part of a series
One of the forms of Vārāhī, painted by Swaroop in one consistent style.
Matte cotton canvas
Printed on 300–350 GSM cotton canvas with a matte finish, so there is no glare under lamps or in a pūjā room.
Never cropped
The artwork keeps its original proportions, with a blank border on every side for stretching or framing.

The meaning within
A small presence.
A profound meaning.
Vaśya Vārāhī is the queen of enchantment who brings all beings under her sway — mounted on a horse, red-limbed and smiling.
Read the full story ↓01Who is Vaśya Vārāhī?+
Vaśya Vārāhī is the queen of enchantment who brings all beings under her sway — mounted on a horse, red-limbed and smiling.
This canvas art print by Swaroop is part of the Forms of Vārāhī series.
02The dhyāna+
“Mounted on a horse, red in color, with a gentle smiling face like a lotus, O queen of enchantment, you subdue all beings. Red-limbed, clad in red garments, resembling a dark blue cloud, Radiant like a million moons, adorned with necklaces and anklets. Holding a conch, discus, and a bow made of sugarcane, bestowing fearlessness, I bow to Varahi, the elephant-eyed(small) goddess.”
Source: Vaśya Vārāhī Stōtram.
03Reading the painting+
- Vāhana: a horse
- Complexion: red
- In her hands: a conch, a discus and a sugarcane bow, with the abhaya mudrā
04Invoking her+
One should invoke Devi, describing her as the savior and mother of the universe, endowed with great glory. One should praise her as the destroyer of enemy factions in all directions and the controller of speech and oceans. One should acknowledge her as the bestower of wealth, fame, and immense good fortune, and ask her to grant (inner and outer) beauty and eternal fame, making the world subservient to oneself.
