Tiraskariṇī Dēvī, also called Tiraskariṇikā, is a pratyaṅga vidyā and bodyguard of Mahāvārāhī and a Raśmimālā dēvatā — the goddess of veiling who blinded Bhaṇḍāsura’s generals.

02Reading the painting+
- Appearance: dark as the tamāla tree, in dark garments, surrounded by shadows
- Vāhana: a dark horse; her chariot is Tamōlipta
- Weapons: the bow Mahā Mōhana, serpent-like arrows and the Andha missile
- Adornment: a garland of the seven generals’ heads
03Her story in the Lalitōpākhyāna+
Bhaṇḍāsura sent seven Asura generals who were sons of Kīkasa. They are Balāhaka, Śucimukha, Phālamukha, Vikaraṇa, Vikatānana, Karālākṣa, Karaṭaka. They started to suppress the Aṅkuśinī Śaktīs. So, at the bidding of goddess Lalitā, Tiraskariṇī was sent to the battleground.
She has the appearance of a dark Tāmala tree and wears dark garments. She is surrounded by dark shadows and rides a dark horse. She carries a springtime bow called Mahā/Vāsantī Mōhana (the enchanter) with a resonant sound. She roars like a lion and showers arrows resembling serpents. She rides her aerial chariot called Tamōlipta.
She discharged the great missile named Andha (the Blinding One) amidst the group of enemies. Those seven Daityas, with the boon of Sūrya, were blinded. After cutting off Balāhaka's hard head with a blow of her sharp-edged spear, she gradually killed the other six Daityas too.
The deity Antardhidēvatā (Tiraskaraṇikā) made a garland with the seven severed heads of the Daityas by joining one another by means of their own tresses. Wearing that garland round her neck she roared loudly.
